The IC351 was then developed for testing; phase 1 trial to test the compound was carried forward in 1995. The first phase was successfully completed. The Second Phase of clinical trial began thereafter to physically test the compound on erectile dysfunction. The third phase was the hallmark that concretized FDA’s approval.

The partnership that prevailed between Glaxo and ICOS was dropped in 1996. The main reason that caused the lapse was diversification of business activities from Glaxo’s core market. Mechanism of Tadalafil
